Car Repairs

The pleasure of having a car is totally extravagant. It would make life easier and would give value to our time. It can save us money, effort, and be away from the hassles in going anywhere. But then, there are some instances that we are in trouble that will cause our car to have some damages. Right then and there, we would think to bring our car to a repair shop but we would always consider the cost of our car repair.

For some folks who don’t have an insurance that covers car repair, it is a big problem for them to have their car repaired every time they hit an accident or every time their car gets damaged and needs a repair. In this case, we can’t do anything about it but face the consequence of having no car insurance for repair and then pay the expenses out of your own pocket. But how much would it really cost to have a car repaired? We always think if the price is right and if we are billed correctly. Well, that is a normal thought and we should do something about it just to make sure that there are no overcharges. There are some factors that we might need to consider before we pay the expenses of a repair.

The cost of car repair depends on the damaged part of your car. As a car owner, it is best that you initially check your car and know the part that needs to be repaired or replaced. In that way, you will know the estimation of the repair cost. You can do a manual calculation by knowing the price of that part that needs to be replaced plus the length of time needed to do the repair as this will do the cost of the repair person.

Most likely that will end up the total bill. If the repair shop would tell you an amount way behind to your calculation, try to ask them why it goes that high. In some cases, they will give you the breakdown. It may also possible that there are damaged parts that you are unaware, but you have to prove it so to avoid repair scams.

Before you hit a decision to choose an auto shop, try to do a survey. Ask estimation from different shops and the coverage of their repair. Don’t hesitate to ask the auto shops for the cost of car repair as most of the time, the estimation is for free and no risk. By doing this, you can compare each pricing and coverage included as you can decide which one has the best offer possible.

While you do the survey for your car repair, it is best that you only choose an auto shop with a name on the industry for long years. You have to choose a stable auto shop and make it sure that their jobs are excellent. You will know this by asking your friends about their experiences or you can have it checked online.

Motorcycles

If you ride a motorcycle, one day you may need to hire a Los Angeles motorcycle attorney. Every day, thousands of motorcycles brave the notorious traffic in Los Angeles. In a county with poor public transit, if you cant afford a car, sometimes a fuel-efficient motorcycle is the best alternative. But riding motorcycles has its downside in Los Angeles. Drivers here are not in the habit of watching for two wheeled riders. Subsequently, serious motorcycle accidents in Los Angeles between bikers and cars have become an all-too frequent tragedy here.

Any Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney is all too familiar with the aftermath of such accidents. When car and motorcycle collide, the biker always gets the worst end of the deal. Unprotected by anything but a helmet, injuries are usually terrible and have a long-lasting impact on the lives of the riders. Who is at fault when a car and a motorcycle collide? Sometimes thats difficult to say. Was the car driver negligent? Inattentive? Did the biker take a chance he/she shouldnt have? Was the motorcycle rider following the law? These kinds of questions are best sorted out by an experienced Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney who know the law and can sort out blame. Insurance companies will attempt to settle a claim without attorneys present. But be aware, if you are involved in a motorcycle accident, only an experienced Los Angeles personal injury attorney who has experience as a motorcycle accident attorney can help you get compensated fairly for the medical bills and continuing therapy you may require after such an accident.

Moving vehicles are not the only culprits in Los Angeles motorcycle accidents. Potholes, sidewalk cracks and poor road conditions are frequently to blame for motorcycle accidents in which riders are thrown from their motorcycles. This kind of motorcycle accident can also be devastating to the rider, even with a helmet. A helmet cannot protect your spine or your bones from injury and all too often, these types of motorcycle accidents result in terrible injuries. Even following the law cannot always protect you from motorcycle accidents in Los Angeles. Motorcycle riders must think three or four moves ahead when theyre on their bikes.

A young Los Angeles motorcyclist, T.J. Beale, had only just begun riding his new motorcycle when a terrible accident put an end to his life. At an intersection near Valley College in Van Nuys, two cars were racing each other and ran the red light, failing to see T.J. as he moved legally forward with the green light. T.J died of his injuries, not because hed done anything wrong, but because he hadnt taken that extra second or two to look before entering the intersection to see if a car was coming. It was an accident that might have been survivable in a car, but fatal on a motorcycle. His grief stricken parents found a experienced Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney who sued those two drivers insurance companies and won a seven figure settlement that covered the terrible medical expenses incurred in the fight to save hm. But T.J. will see none of that.

Los Angeles motorcycle rider Tim Connelly was riding on a quiet side street at sunset when a car that didnt see him in the harsh light turned in front of him. In that motorcycle accident, Tim lost his right leg and suffered head injuries, despite wearing a helmet. Tim was in a rehabilitation facility for over a year and will live with the consequences of that careless drivers actions for the rest of his life. Tims medical bills skyrocketed and he lost his job. The other drivers insurance company tried to settle with Tim for a fairly small amount. But Tim and his family did something smart. They contacted a Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney right away to find out what their rights were. Their motorcycle accident attorney got Tim a high six figure settlement, enough to cover his medical expenses, pay for pain and suffering and to get them back on their feet. Their Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney was not only familiar with California motorcycle law, but had a great track record in getting settlements for his clients.

So why do you need a Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney specifically? First, you must protect your rights. If you suffer a damaging injury it could not only put you out of work, it could put your family income in jeopardy. There will be medical bills and pain and suffering. Insurance companies do not have your best interests at heart. They have the bottom line in mind. An experienced motorcycle accident attorney will generally work on contingency, meaning that nothing will be required of you out of pocket until the case settles, then the attorney will take his fee from the settlement. A great Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney understands the ins and outs of motorcycle accident law and can fairly represent you, take the worry off your back and give your family peace of mind at a time when the focus should be solely on your healing. So if you have had a motorcycle accident in Los Angeles, dont delay in contacting an experienced Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney. He will get the best resolution for your case and will protect what your motorcycle helmet didnt your future.

Motorcycles

You can ride safer by following these quick tips on motorcycle safety:

1. Always assume that you and your motorcycle are totally invisible to other drivers.

2. Leave plenty of space in front and back and to the sides from all other vehicles.

3. Beware of motorists turning left in front of you at intersections.

4. Never drink or take drugs and try to ride a motorcycle.

5. Avoid riding at night, especially late Saturday night and early Sunday when drunken drivers may be on the road.

6. Beware of taking curves that you can’t see around. A parked truck or a patch of sand may be awaiting you.

7. Do not give in to road rage and try to ‘get even’ with another rider or motorist.

8. If someone is tailgating you, either speed up to open more space or pull over and let them pass.

9. Take a motorcycle safety course to learn what to look for to avoid accidents.

10. Wear protective clothing and a helmet.

There is no New York No-Fault insurance available to motorcycle riders. This means that in the event of injury in a motorcycle accident, private health insurance must pay the bills. If the rider wins a lawsuit, these bills must usually be paid back to the health insurance carrier. If there is no health insurance available, the issue of medical bills and paying for medical care becomes complicated, indeed. Consult an experienced accident and personal injury attorney.

As a lawyer and rider who has held a motorcycle license for many years, I have some definite thoughts on this topic. But I’d like you to “cram down” some statistics about motorcycle safety, which relate to accidents and injuries, and which I find fascinating:

1. Approximately 3/4 of motorcycle accidents involve collision with another vehicle; most often a passenger automobile.

2. Approximately 1/4 of motorcycle accidents are single vehicle accidents involving the motorcycle colliding with the roadway or some fixed object in the environment.

3. Vehicle failure accounts for less than 3% of motorcycle accidents, and most of those are single vehicle accidents where control is lost due to a puncture flat.

4. In single vehicle accidents, motorcycle rider error is present as the cause about 2/3 of the time, with the typical error being a slideout and fall due to overbraking, or running wide on a curve due to excess speed or under-cornering.

5. Roadway defects (pavement ridges, potholes, etc.) are the accident cause in 2% of accidents; animal involvement causes 1% of accidents.

6. In multiple vehicle accidents, the driver of the other vehicle violates the motorcycle right-of-way and causes the accident 2/3 of the time.

7. Drivers inability to recognize motorcycles in traffice is the main source of motorcycle collisions. The driver of the other vehicle involved in collision with the motorcycle does not see the motorcycle before the collision, or does not see the motorcycle until too late to avoid the collision.

8. Deliberate hostile action by a motorist against a motorcycle rider is a rare accident cause.

9. The most frequent accident type is the motorcycle proceeding straight and the automobile making a left turn in front of the oncoming motorcycle.

10. Intersections are the most likely place for the motorcycle accident, with the other vehicle violating the motorcycle right-of-way, and often violating traffic controls.

11. Weather is not a factor in 98% of motorcycle accidents.

12. Most motorcycle accidents involve a short trip associated with shopping, errands, friends, entertainment or recreation, and the accident is likely to happen close to the place the trip began.

13. The view of the motorcycle or other vehicle involved in an accident is limited by glare or obstructed by other vehicles in almost 2 of multiple vehicle accidents.

14. Visibility of the motorcycle is a critical factor in multiple vehicle accidents, and accidents are significantly reduced by the use of motorcycle headlamps (on in daylight) and the wearing of high visibility yellow, orange or bright red jackets.

15. Fuel system leaks and spills are present after 62% of motorcycle crashes. This means that there is usually a fire hazard.

16. Significantly overrepresented in accidents are motorcycle riders between the ages of 16 and 24; motorcycle riders between the ages of 30 and 50 are significantly underrepresented. Although the majority of accident-involved motorcycle riders are male (96%), female motorcycles riders are significantly overrepresented in accidents.

17. Motorcycle riders involved in accidents are essentially without training; 92% are self-taught or learned from family or friends. Motorcycle rider training experience reduces accident involvement and reduces injury in the event of accidents.

18. Almost 1/2 of fatal accidents show alcohol involvement.

19. Motorcycle riders in those accidents have difficulty avoiding the collision. Most riders overbrake and skid the rear wheel, and underbrake the front wheel, greatly reducing the ability to slow down and avoid the accident. The ability to countersteer and swerve are essentially absent in the presence of alcohol.

20. The typical motorcycle accident allows the motorcyclist just less than 2 seconds to avoid the collision.

21. Motorcycle modifications such as those associated with the semi-chopper or cafe racer are definitely overrepresented in accidents.

22. The likelihood of injury is extremely high in motorcycle accidents – 98% of multiple vehicle collisions and 96% of single vehicle accidents result in some kind of injury to the motorcycle rider; 45% result in more than a minor injury.

23. Half of the injuries to motorcycle riders are to the ankle-foot, lower leg, knee, and thigh-upper leg.

24. Crash bars are not an effective injury countermeasure; the reduction of injury to the ankle-foot is balanced by increase of injury to the thigh-upper leg, knee, and lower leg.

25. The use of heavy boots, jacket, gloves, etc., is effective in preventing or reducing abrasions and lacerations, which are frequent but rarely severe injuries.

26. Speed, alcohol involvement and motorcycle size increade the injury severity.

27. Seventy-three percent of accident-involved motorcycle riders use no eye protection, and it is likely that the wind on their unprotected eyes contributes to impairment of vision which delays hazard detection.

28. Approximately 50% of the motorcycle riders in traffic use safety helmets but only 40% wear helmets at the time of their accident.

29. Voluntary safety helmet use by accident-involved motorcycle riders was lowest for untrained, uneducated, young motorcycle riders on hot days and short trips.

30. The most deadly injuries to motorcycle accident victims are injuries to the chest and head.

31. The use of the safety helmet is the single critical factor in the prevention or reduction of head injury.

32. The riders abiblity to hear or see is not decreased by use of a safety helmet, nor does it cause fatigue or loss of attention; no element of accident causation is related to helmet use.

33. Helmeted riders and passengers showed significantly lower head and neck injury for all types of injury, at all levels of injury severity.

34. The increased coverage of the full facial coverage helmet increases protection, and significantly reduces face injuries.

35. There is no increase in neck injury by wearing a safety helmet; helmeted riders have fewer neck injuries than unhelmeted riders.
